About 25 years ago, a young hunter named Kurt set off into the bush, armed with his trusty rifle, a big grin, and most importantly, his original Bush Hunter gear. He reckoned nothing could stop him: not the rain, not the wind, not even the Cascade Hut sandflies the size of sparrows.

 

But fate had other plans.

 

After a long day hunting, Kurt hung up two of his prized Bush Hunter shirts to dry at Cascade Hut. They were beauties - worn in just right, smelling faintly of woodsmoke and venison, and tougher than the hut mattress. He stepped out for a quick wander, and when he returned… gone. Stolen. Two beloved shirts, vanished into thin bush air. Some buggar had raided the hut and made off with them.

Kurt never forgot that day. He still tells the story with the same look a hunter gives when the “big one” walks away unscathed.

Fast forward 25 years. Bush Hunter is back in the game. And this time, we’re making it right. To atone for that infamous Cascade Hut shirt heist, we’re decking Kurt out with a fresh set of Bush Hunter 2026 gear - even better than the originals (though we can’t promise they’ll be safe if he leaves them unattended again).

So here’s to Kurt, a legend of the hills, and to Bush Hunter clothing, built tough enough for the bush, but apparently not thief-proof.
